Dave Kellems
President
Southwestern Rottweiler Club of San Diego

I got my first Rottweiler in 1987, which was my first dog after leaving home. Rommel changed my life…He was big, strong, smart and always wanting to please! He set my dog life and activities in motion, and showed me a passion for this breed and for event training. I have had four Rottweilers over the years, and learned so much with each. Around 2017, I joined SRCSD, and shortly after volunteered for the presidency. Over the years, I have learned so much about AKC events, and have come to love participating in many of them, including conformation (my dog, not me!), obedience, rally and scent work…and my favorite, Tracking! I hope people find this Club to be welcoming and fun and a place to find their own passion with their Rottweiler and sport!

Alex Hooper
Board of Director
Southwestern Rottweiler Club of San Diego

Alex Hooper has had Rottweilers since the mid-1990s, and been part of SWRCSD since about 2017. She and her husband, Shane, are AKC professional handlers, handling all different breeds of dogs. Alex and her mother selectively breed Rotties, as well as standard smooth Dachshunds, under the kennel name Briswood; and Dobermans with her husband, under the kennel name Tsunami. Alex consistently participates in conformation, rally, obedience, barn hunt, tracking and public education, and has in the past participated in agility, carting, and herding. She loves having Rottweilers in her life and hopes to be a positive ambassador of the breed and see the breed continue to flourish. ~ Alex Hooper, Board of Directors Southwestern Rottweiler Club of San Diego

Started with the club when I was searching for a carting instructor and met Paula about 1994 or 1995.
I've had Rotties since 1988.
I enjoy all the sports. My favorite will depend on which dog I'm working, because the dogs have their favorites too.
Carting, obedience, rally, tracking, herding, scent work, barn hunt and agility are all events the dogs and I have enjoyed.

Corresponding Secretary

I have been with the club 10ish yrs.
Had my first rescue rottie in the early 90's. Second rescue rottie 2010...I think. By the time my dad who has 100% ptsd wanted a rottie too, I learned I needed to do things different. Getting a 3rd rescue from the club, I said we need to learn how to be better dog leaders. We went to Paula Cingota and stepped in line. Now I have 2 rescued rotties and 1 of Paula Cingotas purposely, bred. We have done lower level obedience and rally. Barn Hunt with my crazy crew is a blast.

Passionate about Rottweilers! I've loved and owned them for most of my life, and now I'm embarking on an exciting journey with my first show dog, Byani. I'm grateful to have such a tremendous amount of support and a vault of knowledge within this club. Thrilled to connect with fellow enthusiasts, learn more about the breed, and advocate for their health and longevity. Let's celebrate and support these incredible dogs together!
